Round 4 - Rissington with Retro
Round 4 - Rissington with RetroRacer
We arrived on the Friday to set up all of the kit and be ready for the predicted soggy Saturday ahead!
Saturday comes round and the weather forecast was definitely right…
It was wet… very wet. Although that was a downside to the day I put in some solid laps and got used to the track fairly quickly again.
We had an engine seizure so this pushed us back slightly as we had a lot to change In between sessions, but as always dad managed to get it sorted.
Sunday….
The weather was much better and we actually could see the sun through the clouds!!
Heat 1:
P15 - P10
Gathered a fairly good start in this heat as I managed to keep with the pack for a few more laps than usual which shown me that I am improving in the class.
Heat 2:
P6 - P13
As I don’t have my starts nailed yet it means I end up dropping quite a few grid places at the start putting me in a lot further down the grid than I would like to be and it shows in my results in this heat. But that is something to practice in the future.
Heat 3:
P8 - DNF
all was going well in this heat until the 4th lap when my engine started gargling going up the main straight. Luckily the place it happened meant I could pull into the pit exit safely. We later found that the ‘O’ ring in the engine had broke and air had been sucked into the head of the engine, this was because one of the threads pulled on a head bolt.
The Final:
P14 - P10
Having fixed al of the problems we had in heat 3 I went out with a positive head and it did me good!
Even though I’m still only halfway up the grid I’m happy with my results as I’m still learning the basics of the kart and what gear to be in where.
I often sit on the dummy grid and am amazed that I’m only 15 year old trying to tame a 6 speed beast.
I would like to say a massive thank you to dad especially this weekend as we did have a few stressful problems but he kept his head up and did everything he could possible to get the kart back out on track after the issues. So thanks for that dad.
